My trip this year was not the best. My son, Ron and I started out with the best of intentions and excited about our trip. By the time we arrived in mid April, the lake was pretty much back to normal level so we didn't have the high water problems that fishermen were having earlier in the year. So we were hoping for some good fishing!
But unfortunately we had problems with the weather. We attempted to fish for 4 days, but 30 MPH winds kept us dockside most of the time. In addition to that, we had outboard motor trouble on Ron's boat. He had just gotten it out the shop the day before we left with the assurances that everything had been fixed. Needless to say, everything was NOT fixed. Even to this day, he still doesn't have it fixed to his satisfaction. But back to Reelfoot....My son was more hardy than I was and he fished a lot of times when ol' Jimbo stayed in the cabin. We ended up our 4 days dressing about 60 nice fish. He caught and dressed 5 or 6 real nice channel cat on Crappie Knockers while fishing right there at the boat dock.
All in all it was an unproductive trip compared to previous years, but I am definitely looking forward to next spring when I can hopefully write you a better report. But it was still enjoyable spending some quality time with my son for 4 days. If nothing else, a couple of trips to Boyette's for supper made it all worthwhile!
I don't have many pictures to share this year, but here are a couple.
