REELFOOT LAKE - April 2007

After some unseasonably cold weather during the first part of April, the Good Lord smiled on us and warmer weather arrived at the same time that we arrived at Reelfoot Lake.  The day of our arrival, high winds kept us off the lake.  But on Monday, April 16th the winds calmed and the temperatures rose into the mid 60's. That was a start of a beautiful week as the weather improved each day as did our good fortunes in fishing.  Most of our fish were caught in the lily pads as the crappie began moving there in preparation for the spawn.  A lot of 1 - 1 1/2 lb. fish were caught with most of those being males and a few nice females pushing 2 lbs.  We also found a good selection of Blue Gill Bulls mixed in with the crappie.
If you are looking for a good place to stay at Reelfoot Lake, keep Southshore Resort in mind.  It's a top quality resort that is unmatched by any on the lake according to Jimbo.

Below are some pictures I wanted to share showing this year's fishing trip.  Although I think most of the guys were using Crappie Knockers, I can't say for sure, but as for my son, Dave and I, all our fish were caught on Crappie Knockers Sparkletails.  Our best colors were white, chartruese, black/chartruese, red/chartruese and yellow/green.
